About me

Name: Devana Pillay
G9

I am Devana Pillay. I wish I am an average typical SMU undergrad but sadly I am not.
I am rather old for a year 2 undergrad but that does not stop me from enjoying this moment and appreciate life as it is.

I was diagnosed with Chronic Myloid Leukaemia, and was saved by my younger brother's stem cells. However, subsequent relapses and other hospitalisation d-tours brunt 5 years of my life.

Leukaemia has taught me that life is worth living but the years that it took away from me, have made me risk-adverse. And I am more incline to just join the herd mindlessly.

I am financially independent and hence have to balance my time between school and my part-time tutoring job. This is both a curse and a blessing, it has taught me how to prioritise but it has also left me with a lot of work, papers to mark, lessons to plan and I have to balance these with my rigorous SMU curriculum.

I enjoy living life and I am a very optimistic person. I always choose to look at what I have and value it, instead of looking at what I lack and worry.

Cheers!
